Northwestern University is conveniently located just north of Chicago along Lake Michigan. The closest airport to the meeting headquarters is Chicago O'Hare International Airport. Midway airport is also nearby.

Transportation from the Airport to Evanston

Transportation from the airport to Evanston, including the campus, workshop site and the hotels, is available via taxi or shuttle bus. The use of these options is the simplest, shortest and highly recommended. The options are:

  1. Taxis from the airport to the Evanston campus charge a fixed rate of about $35. There are several taxis that go from O'Hare to Evanston. One of them is Northshore Cab at 847-864-7500. Another option is 303 Taxi at 1-800-225-5303. Taxis are accessible from the lower level curb-front of every terminal outside the baggage claim areas.

    After collecting your baggage, or for international arrivals after passing customs, call the taxi of your choice. Let them know that you are going to Evanston. They will give you a taxi number and tell you at which terminal exit door (vestibule) your taxi will pick you up. For International guests, exit the terminal building through door 5E, wait under the sign, "Pre-arranged Taxi" for your taxi to arrive. Taxis should arrive within 5-10 min.

  2. Airport Express provides shared shuttle transportation for up to 10 people to/from either airport and must be reserved in advance by calling 800-654-7871. Rates start at $34 from O'Hare and $51 from Midway for the first passenger and $5 for each additional passenger. Ticket counters and loading zones for boarding the Airport Express van are at Door 1E, Door 2D, and Door 3F across from baggage claim on the Baggage Claim level.

    At the international terminal Airport Express shuttles are located just outside Door 5E which is just outside of baggage claim and customs. If you do not see a van you can call their toll-free number at 1-888-284-3826, and ask a reservationist to send a van to the terminal.

All hotels, except for the Double Tree Hotel, are within a 5 to 15 min walking distance from the workshop site. Shuttle service is provided from the Double Tree Hotel.
